SNOW AND ICE PREDICTED FOR FRIDAY COMMUTERS

A winter storm is predicted to bring snow and mixed wintry precipitation to Delaware starting in the early hours of Friday and continuing throughout the day. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory that is currently in effect from 1 a.m., Friday, until 1 a.m., Saturday, in New Castle County.

DELAWARE TO DISTRIBUTE POTASSIUM IODIDE TABLETS SEPT. 13 AT TOWNSEND FIRE COMPANY

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency and the Delaware Division of Public Health will conduct distribution of potassium iodide (KI) tablets, free of charge, on Thursday, Sept. 13, to Delaware residents in the area who live within 10 miles of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations.

EVACUATION ORDER TERMINATED FOLLOWING ASSESSMENT OF DOW REICHHOLD PLANT STATUS

"The evacuation order for the area within a 1,500-foot radius of the Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex Plant located at 144 Fork Branch Road in north Dover has been terminated. Those who evacuated the area may return to their homes. Businesses that closed as a result of a styrene leak at the plant may reopen immediately, and any area school classes or church services may be conducted as scheduled on Sunday, August 27."

"A Delaware Emergency Notification System safety message was recently issued to advise the public of the status of the chemical release incident at Dow Reichhold Specialty Plant located at 144 Fork Branch Road north of Dover. Based on current monitoring at Dow Reichhold, incident specialists, Kent County and the State of Delaware have determined that there are no conditions that would cause adverse health effects at this time."
