2 ND ANNUAL FAMILY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DAY SEPT. 9

 

Where: Wilmington Riverfront, Parking Lot A

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Who: Free to the public, all are welcome

Why: To help everyone be prepared for emergencies and to HAVE FUN

 

Delaware Family Emergency Preparedness Day is hosted by Wilmington Citizen Corps Council. Co-sponsors include the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Delaware Emergency Management Agency, Delaware Council of Citizen Corps, City of Wilmington Office of Emergency Management, New Castle County Office of Emergency Management, the American Red Cross of Delmarva and the Department of Health and Social Services. This event is scheduled in conjunction with National Preparedness Month activities.

 

The event features family activities, health, safety and preparedness training, free materials and free refreshments for those who participate in scheduled activities.

  • The Delaware National Guard climbing wall will provide challenge and fun to children.
  • Delaware State Police Trooper 4 helicopter will drop in.
  • Delaware State Police vehicle Sgt. Dan will drive up.
  • New Castle County Police Special Forces will provide demonstrations.
  • Fire companies and Emergency Management Agencies will display special equipment and mobile command centers.
  • Millcreek Fire Company Smoke House will provide fire safety instruction.
  • There will be prizes for games and activities that test preparedness skills.
  • Training available including building an emergency supply kit and planning for your pets in time of emergency.
  • Free hot dogs and soda for those who take part in activities or training.
  • Many more displays and demonstrations.

This is a family event and should provide fun and informative photo opportunities and interesting people to interview on their views on preparedness.
