The State of Delaware's Comprehensive School Safety Program (CSSP) at DEMA offers a free Safety and Wellness suite to support Delaware's students and schools.

This suite includes proven tools to provide students with consistent support, assistance, and prevention programs.

There are 3 parts to this program:

  1. An anonymous reporting app that provides students with access to crisis texting, resource information, and mental health education and exercises.
  2. Standardized Assessment information including:
    • Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA)
    • Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guideline (CSTAG)
    • Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA)
  3. Standardized case management system to support the students, staff, and parents of Delaware.

This combined approach not only helps to quickly identify concerns but provides a well-coordinated and effective response. The Safety and Wellness suite is part of Delaware's commitment to keeping schools safe.

What's Included?

SAFE DE

Support and Resources for Students, Staff, and Families. Delivered on our state-of-the-art platform, SAFE DE provides the connection to support and resources (unique to communities), delivered clearly and consistently to all schools and families. The healing-centered, intuitive interface builds agency by providing choice while maintaining privacy.

24/7/365 HELP Center

Our in-house HELP Center specialists complete comprehensive training to prepare them to monitor and manage both life and non-life-threatening incidents. Our team immediately escalates life threatening concerns and incidents to local law enforcement.

Crisis Text Line (CTL)

Integrated into the SAFE DE platform and available anywhere in the United States, anytime. A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds, all from our secure online platform. The Crisis Counselor is trained to helps individuals move from a hot to a cool place.

Out of Hours Incident Management (OOH)

Out-Of-Hours service allows individuals to rest easy knowing all incidents are reviewed, vetted, and acted upon (if necessary) by certified specialists during weekends, holidays, and other traditional out-of-school hours.

Behavioral Threat & Suicide Risk Assessments

Evidence based processes by which schools are trained to take appropriate protective action before a conflict or problem escalates into violence. The focus is identifying and helping students in need of assistance. It also provides for consistent processes and procedures for managing and handling threats and students in distress.

A well-developed process and well-trained team removes subjectivity around handling matters of concern and ensures consistent evaluation of all threats and students in need.

Case Management System

Houses pertinent, applicable information throughout the students entire K-12 tenure with Delawares schools to aid in providing assistance to students in need and in deterring violence.
