Open Declared Disasters in Delaware

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency is managing the following open disasters:

On April 5, 2020, the U.S. President issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Delaware. The federal assistance provided under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act provides financial assistance to cover all the emergency protective measures (Category B) not authorized under other federal statutes at 75% of the federal cost share (amended to 100% on 02/03/2021).

The State of Delaware received over $285 million in federal assistance for its 22 eligible subrecipients. Being at the closeout phase now, FEMA set the following deadlines for the open small and large projects:

Between Sep 1 and Sep 7, 2021, Delaware was affected by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, resulting in over $ 2.4 Million worth of damage statewide.

Following the Presidential declaration request submitted on September 17, 2021, the US President issued a major disaster declaration for New Castle County on October 24, 2021, providing public assistance to state and local governments and eligible nonprofit organizations.

So far, Delaware received over $ 7.5 million in federal aid to help 14 subrecipients recover from the disaster.
