Behavioral Threat Assessment
Behavioral threat assessment is a critical tool for schools to identify, assess, and manage potential threats before they escalate into acts of violence. By using a multidisciplinary approach, schools can intervene early, providing support and resources to students who may be in crisis while ensuring the safety of the entire school community. An effective threat assessment process helps schools distinguish between transient threats and genuine risks, reducing overreliance on punitive measures and instead focusing on prevention and intervention.
The Delaware School Safety Center is committed to supporting schools in these efforts by offering training, best practices, case management software and resources to help establish and strengthen behavioral threat assessment teams. Through professional development, policy guidance, and technical assistance, the Center ensures that schools have the knowledge and tools necessary to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
